Jordan trail accommodation – Stage two

I’m walking 640km across Jordan, and the days are counting down remarkably fast. The point of the trek is not only to challenge myself but to raise funds for @MSF_UK as I’ve written about extensively, start at number one and work on through to ten. If you believe in MSF’s work around the world or simply like my blog please head over to my just giving page and donate a few Pounds, Euro, Shillings or dollars to the cause.

This section accommodation list should be much shorter as it starts to traverse some more remote areas of stunning beauty and wild camping is no longer optional.

Fuheis to Karak

Iraq Al-Amir

The first stop after Fuheis is just 15km down the trail to Iraq Al-Amir and the women’s cooperative which hosts a guesthouse, restaurant and workshop. (0777351620: Iraqamir_women_soc@yahoo.com) for around $50 per night.

Kafrain

Wild camping near the dam looks like the best bet, I’m sure it’s possible to find accommodation, but not online. If feeling fit there is a homestay marked about 10km after Kafrain – Abu Nikhlid farm, but there are no results returned when searching for it online.

Oyoon al-Theeb

aka middle of nowhere, there isn’t even a village marked on the maps, only a few scattered building and perhaps Bedouin camps.

Wadi Zarqa Ma’in, Wadi Hidan, Wadi Mujib

I’m going to handle these three locations as one. The only homestay marked on the gpx files is Abu Saef (0777037559) between Wadi Zarqa and Wadi Hidan, does food, support and accommodation.

Majdalein

Nothing marked or turning up on google, although possibly something in nearby Faqua

Karak

Finally somewhere with a guaranteed bed and shower! Cairwan hotel is the recommended hotel at $35 and about $4 for breakfast. The other option is Al-Mujeb, which looks to be much of the same, but very few details out there.

And that’s that! take your tent and enjoy the stars…. Let me know if you have any other suggestions, prices, contacts

*All prices have been converted to USD and are approximate. They could be out of date.
** Homestays without numbers may or may not still be operational
